April 2014. I'll never forget the day I boxed up my piping bags for the last time at Little Snowflakes Cottage Bakery. After years of creating custom cakes from my home kitchen under Texas cottage bakery law, I was closing the doors on what I thought was my life's passion.
The cottage bakery wasn't just a business—it was my creative outlet, my way of bringing joy to families during their most precious moments right from my own kitchen. Through my volunteer work with Icing Smiles, I had the privilege of creating custom cakes for children facing terminal illnesses. Every cake was a labor of love, baked with care in my home and delivered as a small way to bring light during the darkest times.
But sometimes life has different plans.
The Unexpected Plot Twist
A CrossFit shoulder injury meant I could no longer handle the physical demands of cake decorating. The intricate piping work that once brought me such satisfaction became impossible. I felt lost, wondering what came next after dedicating so much of myself to running my cottage bakery from home.
Little did I know, Stephen had already started exploring a completely different path. After being laid off from his corporate job, he had begun researching the travel industry. While I was saying goodbye to fondant and buttercream in my home kitchen, he was discovering the world of travel planning.

From Cake Layers to Travel Layers
The career change to travel planning wasn't immediate or easy. That shoulder injury that ended my cottage bakery career? It led me to discover something I never knew I was passionate about: travel. Those skills I developed in customer service, attention to detail, and creating personalized experiences from my home-based business translated perfectly to travel planning.
