From Baking Dreams to Galveston Cruise Planning: How My Kitchen Christmas Tree Tells My Story

I’ll be honest with you—I’m a little extra when it comes to Christmas decorating. And this year, my kitchen Christmas tree is giving me all the feels.

Every ornament hanging on those branches tells a story. Not just any story, but my story—the journey from flour-dusted countertops at Little Snowflakes Cottage Bakery to helping families create unforgettable memories on Galveston cruises and beyond.

If you’ve ever wondered what makes Magic Destinations Travel different, or why I’m so passionate about the details of your vacation, this tree holds all the answers.

The Tree That Started It All

When I pull out my Christmas decorations each year, I could easily go with a trendy theme—coastal chic, farmhouse rustic, or elegant silver and gold. But this year I added something new to my collection: a kitchen tree that's unapologetically me.

Yes, you read that right. I said "added to my collection." This kitchen tree is number 10 in my holiday lineup—ranging from 1 foot to 9 feet tall, with two real trees and eight artificial ones scattered throughout my home. I told you I was a little extra. 😊

But this gingerbread-themed kitchen tree? It's special.

Here's the thing, though: I couldn't find the exact ornaments I envisioned. So, I did what any former bakery owner would do—I made them myself.

I handcrafted the chef's hat tree topper. I painted cookie cutters to create custom gingerbread ornaments. I transformed plastic paint trays into adorable "muffin tin" decorations filled with faux cupcakes and cookies. I even took a simple Dollar Tree stackable snowman and customized it with paint and imagination until it perfectly fit my vision.

Because when you have a specific vision in mind, sometimes you have to create it yourself.

Sound familiar? It should. Because that's exactly how I approach your vacation planning.

At first, I thought I'd lost my purpose when I had to close the bakery. Baking wasn't just what I did—it was who I was. But as I transitioned into the travel industry alongside my husband Stephen (who started the agency after being laid off from his technical job), something beautiful happened. My story—from baking dreams to Galveston cruise planning—shows that sometimes the skills you develop in one career become the foundation for the next.

I realized I hadn't lost my purpose at all. I'd simply found a new way to express it.

What Gingerbread Taught Me About Travel Planning

Hand crafted tree topper: Chefs hat with gingerbread decorations.

Here's the thing about running a custom bakery: every order was different. Every bride had a vision. Every birthday kid had a favorite character. Every anniversary couple wanted something meaningful.

I couldn't just pull a generic cake off the shelf and call it done. I had to listen. I had to ask questions. I had to care about the details that mattered to them, not just me.

And when the perfect solution didn't exist? I created it. Custom flavors. Hand-sculpted fondant figures. Intricate piping work that took hours. Whatever it took to bring their vision to life.

That's exactly how I approach your vacation planning.

The Details That Make Magic Happen

When you book a Galveston cruise with me, I'm not just finding you "a cabin." I'm finding you the right cabin—the one that's close to the elevator if you have mobility concerns, away from high-traffic areas if you're light sleepers, or with the perfect balcony view if you want to watch the sunrise over the Gulf.

Just like I wouldn't settle for store-bought decorations that were "close enough" to my vision, I'm not going to book you on a cruise that's "close enough" to what you want.

And just like I hand-painted those cookie cutters and transformed paint trays into muffin tins to get exactly the look I wanted, I'll customize every aspect of your itinerary—shore excursions, dining reservations, pre-cruise hotels, ground transportation—until it's exactly what you envisioned.

Details matter. Whether it's the perfect sprinkle placement or the ideal cabin location, I sweat the small stuff, so you don't have to.

Customization Is Everything

No two cakes I ever made were identical. Even if two clients ordered "chocolate cake with buttercream," the final products were completely different because the people were different.

One couple wanted dark chocolate with espresso buttercream and gold leaf accents. Another wanted milk chocolate with vanilla buttercream and fresh berries. Same base concept, totally different execution—because I customized each order to match the client's taste, style, and celebration.

The same is true for my Christmas tree. I didn't want generic gingerbread ornaments from Target. I wanted my ornaments—ones that told my story in my way. So I created them from scratch, painting and assembling each piece until my kitchen tree reflected exactly what was in my heart.

Your vacation deserves the same approach.

Your Trip, Your Way

Maybe you're a first-time cruiser who needs hand-holding through every step—from understanding dining options to knowing what to pack. I'm here for that.

Or maybe you're a seasoned traveler who just wants me to handle the logistics while you focus on the fun. I'm here for that too.

Perhaps you're planning a multi-generational family reunion cruise and need someone to coordinate cabins, dining times, and shore excursions for 15 people with different needs and budgets. Definitely here for that.

No two trips should be identical, because no two travelers are identical. That's why I offer personalized cruise planning with three custom quotes, tailored itineraries, and support that's designed around your priorities—not a one-size-fits-all template.

I don't do cookie-cutter vacations any more than I did cookie-cutter cakes. Or cookie-cutter Christmas trees, for that matter.

The Magic Is in the Care

Here's what most people don't know about custom baking: the magic doesn't happen in the oven. It happens in the consultation.

When a bride sat down with me to plan her wedding cake, I didn't just ask about flavors. I asked about her love story. Her wedding colors. Her personality. What made her feel special.

Because a cake isn't just dessert—it's a moment. And my job was to make that moment unforgettable.

The same is true for handcrafting ornaments. I didn't slap paint on a cookie cutter and call it done. I thought about the overall vision. The color palette. How each piece would work together. The story I wanted to tell.

I cared about the outcome—not because anyone was paying me to decorate my own tree, but because creating something meaningful matters to me.

From Consultation to Bon Voyage

The same philosophy drives everything I do at Magic Destinations Travel.

When we have our initial consultation (whether by phone or video call—always by appointment), I'm not just collecting dates and destinations. I'm getting to know you. What excites you about travel? What stresses you out? What would make this trip absolutely perfect?

Then I get to work crafting your custom itinerary—complete with insider tips, exclusive amenities through my supplier relationships, and 24/7 support before, during, and after your trip.

And just like I used to follow up with brides after their weddings to see photos and hear about their big day, I follow up with you after your vacation. Because I genuinely care about whether your trip was everything you dreamed it would be.

The magic is in the care. From your first inquiry to your welcome-home follow-up, I'm with you every step of the way.

Why This Tree Means So Much

Every December, when I unpack these gingerbread ornaments and arrange them on my kitchen tree, I'm reminded of where I came from—and how far I've come.

I'm reminded that the skills I developed in the bakery weren't wasted when I had to close that chapter. They were preparation for this one.

I'm reminded that the same hands that piped buttercream roses and painted cookie cutter ornaments are the hands that now craft custom itineraries and coordinate dream vacations.

And I'm reminded that whether I'm creating cakes, creating Christmas decorations, or creating vacation memories, my mission has always been the same: to make something special, meaningful, and exactly right for the person it's meant for.

From Baking Dreams to Galveston Cruise Planning: What My Story Means for You

My story from baking dreams to Galveston cruise planning means that when you work with Magic Destinations Travel, you're not just getting a travel agent. You're getting someone who:

  • Obsesses over details like a pastry chef measuring ingredients to the gram—or a crafter hand-painting ornaments

  • Customizes every experience because cookie-cutter solutions never impressed anyone (and I literally won't even accept them for my own Christmas tree)

  • Creates solutions from scratch when the perfect option doesn't exist off the shelf—just like transforming paint trays into muffin tin ornaments

  • Genuinely cares about your happiness, your budget, and your peace of mind

  • Brings over 14 years of client service excellence from one industry into another

You're getting someone who learned the art of creating magic in a bakery kitchen, refined it while crafting Christmas ornaments in her living room, and now creates it on cruise ships, at theme parks, and in destinations around the world.

You're also getting someone who decorates 10 Christmas trees every year because she believes in going all-in on the things that matter. And your vacation? That definitely matters.
